Care
General Maintenance: Lemongrass plants that live for more than one season benefit from an annual trim, to remove dead foliage. Chose a large container for your plant, at least 12 inches in diameter or larger. It needs lots of room for its roots!
Temperature: 15 to 30 degrees Celsius will suit nicely.
Light: This plant loves heat and wants full sun! At least 6 hours of direct sun will help meet the plants energy needs.
Watering: Lemongrass prefers moist soil, but once established, it can withstand drought. Mulch would definitely be helpful! Water 2 – 3 times a week, or more if needed.
Soil: They prefer a rich, loamy soil. Consider adding compost or manure when planting.
Fertilizer: A nitrogen rich fertilizer works well, especially a slow release 6-4-0 fertilizer.
